The SNPA Foundation has awarded $12,500 to support The Relevance Project, an initiative created by the Newspaper State Association Managers.  The purpose of this program is to help develop common strategies that state newspaper associations can bring to their members.

“We are grateful for the support of the SNPA Foundation,” said Tom Silvestri with The Relevance Project.  Our effort to find common tools and presentations such as our PowerPoint presentation any publisher or editor can take to a community gathering helping to explain the vital role of newspapers.”

“The effort by the different state association managers to find common tools and solutions for their members is the type of project which ‘scales’ that the SNPA Foundation likes to fund,” said SNPA Foundation Chair PJ Browning.  “We are looking forward to seeing the projects available to newspapers across America.”

The SNPA Foundation considers funding requests for programs and initiatives that support educational opportunities for the advancement of newspaper industry leaders, the creation of sustainable business models, and the technology that supports the advancement of the news eco-system.

The SNPA Foundation is especially interested in seeding projects that may start “locally,” but include the possibility of scaling to a national level; that have a broad impact on the public; or that enrich the racial diversity of professional ranks by drawing more talent into the newspaper industry.
